Algeria vs Nigeria: Desert Foxes play out 1-1 with Super Eagles

The Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Desert Foxes of Algeria on Friday played out a 1-1 draw in the last game of qualifying series for Russia 2018 World Cup in Constantine.

The first half of the game ended in a barren draw with Nigeria enjoying much of the possession but failing to utilize couple of chances.

Israel-based midfielder John Ogu put the visiting West African giants ahead with a 61st minute left footed shot from outside the eighteen yard area.

Both teams fought hard in the dead rubber encounter with Nigeria having claimed the sole ticket of the group, which also has Zambia and Cameroon.

The Cabonese referee surprisingly awarded a controversial penalty to the home side in the 86th minute and Yacine Brahimi made no mistake with the spot kick.

Nigeria will now head to Russia to face South American giants, Argentina in a grade A friendly game on Tuesday.
