Boko Haram Kills 11 Soldiers in Chad

Yamena, Oct 6 (Prensa Latina) Islamic extremist group Boko Haram has killed 11 Chadian soldiers after attacking their positions in Kaiga Ngouboua about two kilometers from the Nigerian border, a military source reported today.

Chadian army said in a statement that "this surprise attack claimed the lives of 11 soldiers and wounded 13, [and] 17 Boko Haram fighters were killed. The attackers were pushed back and the army is continuing search operations in the zone."

ChadâÖs armed forces part of a new multinational task force against Boko Haram - consisting of 8,700 troops with the objective of eliminating the Nigerian terrorist group which has killed about 20 thousand people since 2009 and forced more than two million people to flee their homes. The group has also caused significant material damage to countries in the region.

In the first quarter of 2015, the military alliance which gathers troops from Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Benin, has been able to push back the group from the nearly 30 thousand km2 that were occupied by the end of last year.

The Nigerian army, with the support of its allies, is carrying out the operation Lafiya Dole, in order to destroy the remaining terrorist camps in the dense forest of Sambisa, in northeast Nigeria, in an attempt to defeat them before December.

Last Friday, 25 people were killed in a suicide attack by Boko Haram against areas in the Nigerian states of Borno and Adawama.
