N183.7bn Auditor-General’s report: NDDC meets Buhari, knows fate today

Barring any change in plans, top management staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) are expected to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari today.

The commission has been rocked with allegations of misappropriating N183.7 billion, in a report by the office of the Auditor General of the Federation, Olawunmi Ogunmosunle.
On August 12, the Auditor General submitted a special audit report spanning 2008-2012 on the NDDC to the National Assembly.
However, a source privy to the meeting told Daily Sun that the meeting with the president would determine the fate of the NDDC management, against the backdrop “of various issues ranging from contract splitting and the rest.
“So, when we heard of the altercations between the NDDC and the office of the Auditor-General, it became a thing of concern because there are real issues to be sorted by the management; they can’t deny such.
“So, at tomorrow’s meeting with the president, the issues have to be laid bare and solutions must be explored for the commission to be able to discharge its mandatory responsibilities to the Niger-Delta.”
Ogunmosunle insisted he stood by the report submitted to the National Assembly.
