Forte Oil terminates franchises with errant petrol stations

Forte Oil Plc has said that it has terminated the contracts between itself and four franchised filling stations which were sealed by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) at the weekend for manipulating their dispensing pumps, among other offences, The Punch reports.

The DPR had on Friday stormed several filling stations in Lagos, shutting down 12 stations including four Forte Oil branded stations at Oribanwa, Lakowe, Molete and Abule Folly in Ibeju Lekki.
Forte Oil, in a statement signed by its Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Akinleye Olagbende, said that the stations that were shutdown by DPR were franchised stations and are not owned by Forte Oil Plc. and that all stations branded under the Forte Oil name were obligated to comply with all the regulations applicable to the downstream petroleum sector, a contractual term contained in all its franchise agreements.
As such, he indicated that non compliance of the terms had resulted in a breach of the said agreement and therefore resulted in a ground for instant termination of the franchise arrangement.
